Finger Printing Information

In some cases, the Division of Real Estate for the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) requires Criminal History Record Information (CHRI) searches using fingerprinting.  The most common cases requiring fingerprinting are new or renewal of a Real Estate, Mortgage Broker, and/or Real Estate Appraiser License.  The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will process the CHRI after fingerprinting, which costs $39.50.  Be advised that there may be an additional fee taken by the fingerprinting service provider.  For more information on the basic requirements, please look at the Colorado Bureau of Investigation’s Employment and Background checks website.

Fingerprinting service providers may offer one or two different types of services.  The first –which can be found through PSI – Grand Junction – uses a digital fingerprint reader that communicates with CBI.  The second more common service is a fingerprint card and ink.  The service provider should have the card on hand, but be sure that it is the correct form and that all the pertinent information is filled out correctly.  The correct card and guidelines can be found at the CBI Employment and Background Checks website.
